Old school, attritional challenge. Fun, camaraderie, pain, beauty, satisfaction, pride. Volunteers and organisation top banana!
DNF'd in 2025 at Leighton Buzzard, signed up again straight away. Don't underestimate just because it is flat. Parts are as rough as old boots, especially bits of Oxford Canal, worth a recce if not familiar. Expect the unexpected. Have a plan but be ready to adapt. Cracking event, supportive community of runners, volunteers and organisers. If not now, when?

Brutal but what an event.
Proper back to basic ultra. If you are looking for an event which is challenging but has the most amazing of volunteers to help you get through the event, then this is for you.
There’s no big band, no razzmatazz. I knew it was going to be tough even
though you think it would be easier being relative flat, but it brings its own challenges. The aid stations are roughly 26miles apart so you have to be efficient with food and water.
The volunteers really do go above and beyond to get you through to the next checkpoint. So glad I’ve done it. Absolutely amazing event. Definitely will come back but to help out.
Thankyou again to Lindley and his team.
Hope it’s event what keeps its roots and keeps going for years to come.

If you like low key races with a real family feel at the aid stations and a real sense that everyone wants you to succeed - then these are the types of race you should enter.

An epic challenge for an epic medal!
While not for complete beginners due to the length, there’s no elitism or gatekeeping and many more novice runners have put performed more experienced ones.
All runners are welcomed by all other runners and volunteers. The organisation is first class: having a chair ready with your kit bag ready at each check point is close to being spoilt! Best of all is if you greet the volunteers with a smile they return with huge happiness and get you back in your way. The RD is clear in what he wants and supportive when it goes wrong.
Finish this race and I promise you will never regret trying to do it.

Very good value and challenging.
Very good value for this event, there is no fancy aidstations, but there is a challenge. One of the cheapest ultra that i have ran. Aidstations are basic but have everything you need to finish the race. Very helpful volunteers and orgonizers, many times durring the race i have heard how orgonizers were helping guiding runners that were off track, loaning necessary kit, even helping to get power bank to charge devices in aidstation.

Extremely good value for money, well organised and fully supported by inspirational volunteers.
I’m a regular TR250 runner but this year I thought I would try the new 150 distance. It was great to start along side the full distance entries , meeting up with friends and the best runners on the course.
I was well looked after at each cp by all the volunteer staff, great people and a credit to the Ultra racing community.
I definitely would recommend entering next year with the 3 distances to choose from.

Excellent event run by an awesome team
Tough race that provides a great challenge, really great team and volunteers behind it. Will be back.

A great alternative if you miss out on the Grand Union Canal Race.
The tracker for the 150 needs looking at, it seem to think CP5 was the finish and when I looked back at my finish time it’s not correct.
Hi Mitch well done on your race. The tracker timing is just for reference and we time the event on a different system and your official time is on the website results page. The tracker finish is CP6 but we have to manually add that time or scan you with the scanner. The official time is shat we record on timings system not the tracker.
Very good value. Very hard. Very well-organised.
A very low key but also very famous race.
Lovely organisation and very kind people.
A very very hard event.
Absolutely delighted I got through it.
Thank you to Challenge running, the volunteers and the fellow runners I had the pleasure of spending 96 hours with.

Big enough to challenge any level of runner, small enough to feel part of a running family.
Super value for money for an epic race that can challenge you in ways beyond your physical ability. The aid station staff are 100% invested in your success, many having entered the race previously or undertaken similar distances, so you always feel supported. If you're looking for a 'running life goal' or something that you can work towards to give real purpose away from other life pressures then this race is for you!

Challenging
Ive completed the 250 once and now had one dnf. Its a tough one and those medals are extremely hard earnt. Its fantastic value for money and you are looked after very well by the amazing volunteers.

Ideal gateway to a 200 miler
Beautifully organised with the most wonderful volunteers on an easy to navigate course. This feels like what trail ultras are supposed to be about. There’s no fancy unwanted merch inflating the prices, but still providing the things that genuinely do make a difference in a long race: live tracking, fantastic volunteers that go the extra mile, an emphasis on helping your fellow runners - and the kind of low key participants who turn out to be covert ultra running legends.

Brilliant event
Would definitely recommend this event. Greta value for money and great support at each aid station. Can’t wait to run the 250 next year !

Brilliant event - proper old skool version of a race. Great value and perfect beginning to end

A fantastic four day running holiday
The experience of a lifetime. Great support from lovely people who were happy to wait on you hand and foot at each checkpoint, RD clear in what he wants but also supportive of even idiots like me, a gorgeous route, loads of friendly dogs to stroke. The one caveat is that it’s a very long way and is a hard run, but the medal makes it all worthwhile!

Flawless organisation and fabulous volunteers
