An absolutely brilliant event from start to finish! The organisers and volunteers created such a friendly, supportive atmosphere, and everything was incredibly well run—even through hours of heavy rain.

There was always encouragement waiting at the end of every yard, no matter the time of day or night. They had also made sure that dietary requirements and allergies were properly catered for, which was incredibly thoughtful and reassuring.

A fantastic team who clearly put so much care and hard work into creating a truly special event. Thank you—I’ll definitely be back!

This is a fantastic event - exceptionally well run by a really friendly bunch of folk who warmly welcome runners of all abilities. The Backyard is a really fun format that is inclusive for friends and family to support and crew, making the event more running festival than race.
The course is superb, easy highly runnable trails and very well marked.
Highly recommended whether it’s your first go at an ultra distance or you’re trying to set some ridiculous personal record. The lovely people behind Challenge Running will help you get there!

Very friendly and supportive atmosphere, very well organised and overall a brilliant experience

Really well run event, well organised, clearly marked.
The atmosphere was fantastic!

I would like to suggest that during the race briefing they remind participants that when the y need to walk, they move off to the side to allow others to pass. groups of people were walking together and blocking the route for others.

My first back yard and first ultra in 10 years.
The people make it from the participants and especially the boys and girls in the background beavering away making sure we had everything ready...thank you

The Challenge Running team provides the perfect Backyard Ultra event to support runners. All the volunteers and staff are amazing. A real family feel. Perfect for your first BYU. Thetford Forest is a great venue. The countryside trail are very runnable and beautiful scenery too. One hill but it's the perfect grade and runnable or the perfect walk. The rest of the 'yard' is flat with great surfaces. Mix of grass, hard pack and gravel. I can't recommend Challenge Running enough. Just the best!!
